Content :

This four day advanced course teaches you how to perform both unsupervised and supervised classification, optimizing the accuracy of land cover maps. The class will incorporate ancillary data such as aerial photography, GPS data and ground truth surveys and will show you how to apply the change detection.

This course is an introduction to the latest IMAGINE Essentials and IMAGINE Advantage software. Instructors will present some basic concepts of remote sensing and GIS, providing a foundation in image processing and GIS. Classification, orthorectification, and image mosaicking are also presented. (3 day class)

Content :
Do you already know how to build your own basic models with the ERDAS IMAGINE Spatial Modeler, but need guidance with some of the advanced functionality? This two-day advanced course will teach students how to build models using the advanced tools and functions in the Modeler. Students will also be shown how to plan Knowledge Engines from an expert’s knowledge, build these with the Knowledge Engineer and finally test them. (2 day class).

Prerequisites :
Fundamentals of ERDAS IMAGINE® I and II.

  1. Perform advanced change detection with the Spatial Modeler.
  2. Access, analyze and change image attributes with the Spatial Modeler.
  3. Manipulate tables of data and LUTs using the Spatial Modeler Table Object.
  4. Run multiple processes in one model and combine multiple models.
  5. Convert expert knowledge into information needed by the ERDAS Knowledge Engineer.
  6. Automatically classify and identify image features with Knowledge Engines.
  7. Launch C programs from within the Knowledge Engineer.

Content :
This one day workshop is designed to become better acquainted with the 3D View and IMAGINE VirtualGIS capabilities within the new 2010 Ribbon Interface. The workshop is lead by an instructor, but students will have the freedom to create their own personalized worlds, ask questions, and learn shortcuts, tips and tricks in the 3D View.

Prerequisites :
Fundamentals of ERDAS IMAGINE® I (preferred but not mandatory).

Topics :

  1. Use elevation models, raster overlays, vector data, and other GIS layers to create a customized 3D world.
  2. Master navigation modes for smooth and easy visualization.
  3. Import models and model coverages in various formats.
  4. Add textures 3D shapefiles with Stereo Analyst for IMAGINE’s Texel Mapper.
  5. Create an animated fly-through using models and camera mode.
  6. Record movies to share with others.

Content :
In this intermediate, application-oriented course, students will learn the tools and functionality necessary to complete a desktop mapping project, using LPS. Instructors will explain how to triangulate a block of images, extract elevation data, and create orthorectified imagery. Data sources used include conventional aerial photographic frames and QuickBird imagery from DigitalGlobe.

  1. Understand basic digital photogrammetric theory needed to use LPS.
  2. Input all necessary data, create and triangulate blocks of imagery.
  3. Use the Automatic Point Measurement tool to improve triangulation results.
  4. Extract elevation data to produce a Digital Terrain Model using tools in LPS.
  5. Display, edit and enhance Digital Elevation Models using standard ERDAS IMAGINE® tools.
  6. Orthorectify multiple images from a block using elevation data from multiple sources.
  7. Mosaic several orthorectified images.
  8. Visualize orthorectified imagery in a standard ERDAS IMAGINE Viewer and use the Image Drape tool to create perspective three-dimensional scenes

Content :
This course demonstrates how to use LPS with commercial satellite imagery to process accurate orthos. It includes a variety of different sensor models and includes workflows from starting a blockfile, adding RPC information, collecting ground control using the Stereo Point Measurement tool, and RPC refinement, and ortho-production.
Students will learn shortcuts, tips and tricks, and how to check and analyze accuracy in their end-products.

Fundamentals of ERDAS IMAGINE® I, Introduction to LPS (preferred but not mandatory).

Technical Prerequisites :
Attendees must have experience with J2EE environments: Java Virtual Machine, Application Servers and Servlet engines such as Tomcat and JBOSS. Notions of spatial databases and SQL are also necessary. Knowledge of XML, XML schema is recommended.
Programming skills in Java and JavaScript is not required for this training

Introduction to Geo-ICT concepts and Overview of ERDAS APOLLO

Content :
This course provides an overview on ERDAS APOLLO 2010 and its technological environment such as the OGC and ISO/TC211 specifications and standards. The main features of ERDAS APOLLO Essentials, ERDAS APOLLO Advantage and ERDAS APOLLO Professional are browsed.

ERDAS APOLLO Essentials

Content :
At the end of this course you will know how to install the product with all its prerequisites, you’ll learn how to set up a WMS on Image files, a WCS on Coverages, how to setup WFS on a Spatial Database, how to configure the portrayal of these data and how to setup and IWS server. You will also learn how to harvest your services in the ERDAS APOLLO Catalog console. Security configuration is also approached.
The web client and 3D client are also demonstrated in this training.

ERDAS APOLLO Advantage

Content :
This course covers the Image Manager capabilities of Apollo Advantage and the collaboration features. With this training you are be able to publish raster data through the WMS and WCS interfaces using the Image Manager crawling mechanism. You are able to configure ISO 19115 metadata to describe your data in the Image Manager catalog. You will learn how to configure and customize your system for your specific (data styling, security configuration, client application tuning,..).

ERDAS APOLLO Professional

Content :
Apollo Professional provides geoprocessing though an implementation of the OGC Web Processing Services (WPS). This trainings aims at teaching how Image Manager administrators can create and publish complex geoprocesses so that end users are able to execute them with very little domain knowledge.

Content :
This course covers all the functionalities of ERDAS APOLLO Solution Toolkit.
The Solution Toolkit allows a developer to customize an Apollo product by programmatically accessing services, by developing new data/metadata decoders or by modifying the web applications. The Solution Toolkit also allows building a new geospatial web application. At the end of this course, you will know what is the solution toolkit and how you could use it in your projects. You will have all the information to start developing using the Solution Toolkit.

In this course students will learn basic radar image processing in the ERDAS Radar Mapping Suite. New radar sensor models will be covered, as well as radar conversion and enhancement techniques. The emphasis will be on OrthoRadar and new Interferometric module, which includes DEM extraction with InSAR, a change image with CCD (Coherence Change Detection), and a quantified change image with D-InSAR (Differential InSAR).
