This course illustrates the basic concepts of remote sensing and GIS, providing a foundation in image processing and classification, orthorectification, and classification using ERDAS IMAGINE Essential, Advantage and Professional

In this intermediate, application-oriented course, students will learn the tools and functionality necessary to complete a desktop mapping project, using LPS. Instructors will explain how to triangulate a block of images, extract elevation data, and create orthorectified imagery. Data sources used include conventional aerial photographic frames and QuickBird imagery from DigitalGlobe.

This one day training is designed to become better acquainted with the 3D View and IMAGINE VirtualGIS capabilities within the new Ribbon Interface. The training is led by an instructor, but students will have the freedom to create their own personalized worlds, ask questions, and learn shortcuts, tips and tricks in the 3D View.

Contents :
The training will be on real data for an area around Cairo Airport, the pilot project will include WorldView-2 stereo satellite images (Resolution: 50 cm, dated May 2009). Twenty Ground control points will be used to make the bundle block adjustment and a high resolution Digital Elevation Model will be generated.
